Teaching English

As an English Language Institute student, you may audit regular Queens College courses which interest you. This is a great opportunity for you to familiarize yourself with American classroom procedures and practice listening and note-taking skills. Students may also attend free ELI electives classes each semester.

For recreation, you are invited to use the College swimming pool, gymnasium, and tennis courts for a nominal fee. You will have many opportunities to participate in the social and cultural life of the College and the community, including, for example, frequent lectures, free exhibits, and concerts offered by the Queens College Art department and Aaron Copland School of Music.

Not only do Queens College students come from 140 different countries, but the campus is located in the most ethnically diverse borough in the United States . Both in and around the ELI program, your experience can be rich, fulfilling, and valuable, too. For while you may take part in an activity for personal enjoyment, you will also participate in - and learn about - American culture as it is lived.
