Music Minor
The music minor is a program for non-music majors offered to supplement their major or to pursue an interest in music. There are two options for the minor:
Music Theory (21 credits):
In the music theory minor, you will learn about concepts of music theory like scales, intervals, and harmony. You will also be exposed to sight singing and some keyboarding.
The placement exam is required to declare this minor.
Requirements:
- Music 171: Sight Singing 1 - 3 cr
- Music 172: Sight Singing 2 - 3 cr
- Music 173: Theory 1 - 3 cr
- Music 174: Theory 2 - 3 cr
- Music 121 - 3 cr (section to be approved by departmental advisor)
- 2 semesters of large ensemble (Choir, Wind Ensemble, Orchestra) - 1 cr each
- Electives (6 credits)
Music Production (24 credits):

- Music 314: Intro - 3 cr
- Music 315: MIDI 1 - 3 cr
- Music 316: MIDI 2 - 3 cr
- Music 318: Digital Recording 1 - 3 cr
- Music 319: Digital Recording 2 - 3 cr
Electives:
- Songwriting 1 and 2, Film Scoring, Music For Media, Game Scoring, Physics of Musical Sound (PHYS 3)
