Biographical Information:
Dr. Néviton Barros (he/him/his) holds a degree in Voice Performance from the Escola de Música de Brasília, where he sang with Madrigal de Brasília. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in music with specialization in Conducting from the Universidade de Brasília. He holds a M.A from Hunter College, with specialization in Conducting, and a DMA in Choral Studies, with minor in Vocal Pedagogy from Louisiana State University. He has worked as Assistant Director to Coro Sinfônico Comunitário UnB in Brasília, Brazil, and to Coro Nacional del Perú in Lima, Peru. He has worked as Musical Director for International Brazilian Opera Company in New York City and for Grace Baptist Church of Christ, in Brooklyn. He was a singer and artistic director of AdHoc, a vocal group in New York City. As a soloist, he performed several master works, such as Handel’s Messiah and Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy; and several opera roles such as Papageno and Monostatos in Mozart’s Magic Flute; Leporello, in Mozart’s Don Giovanni; Don Geronimo in Cimarosa’s Il Matrimonio Segreto; Don Magnifico in Rossini’s Cenerentola; Mustafa in Rossini’s L’Italiana in Algeri. Currently. Dr. Barros is an Adjunct Professor in Choral Studies and Opera at Muhlenberg College and he is the Artistic Director of Concord Chamber Singers, in Bethlehem, PA. For Spring 2022, he was invited to teach Conducting Classes at Queens College.
